Getting it right for Children & Young People

Working with the Pennine Acute Trust, Children from Pike Fold Primary School came to the Roch Valley Radio studios as part of “Getting it right for Children & Young People.

The pupils went on air to talk about things that matter to children and young people both personally and in the local area.

The children at school took up the challenge of planning and putting together their broadcast for children’s radio following workshops with Joanne and the team from PAT, some of the children’s exciting ideas are;

  • messages to tell you that you’re ok
  • shout outs and phone ins
  • feel good music
  • funny catch phrases
  • good local news
  • dedications from family and friends
  • music requests
  • interviews

The day at the station consisted of a studio tour and explanation of some of the equipment that we use, a planning session of what the young people wanted to happen on the radio, setting up the radio system with the content that’s going to be broadcast, Lunch!, a tutorial in the LIVE studio and then a two hour radio show.

The broadcast went out LIVE available at hospitals within the trust through the Hospedia Bedside TV system that is FREE for hospital radio, through mobile phones and tablets with the Roch Valley Radio Mobile app, Facebook LIVE on social media and right here via our website.
