Louise Bugeja goes Global with her Show… again!

Louise Bugeja has been with Roch Valley Radio since the beginning; in fact, we can say that she originally started at HFM before the amalgamation to Roch Valley Radio.

With over 12 years of broadcasting experience and never missing a show, Louise produces a Soul Scene Show on Tuesday evenings between 8 pm and 10 pm (GMT) playing 60’s and 70’s Motown and Northern Soul music, with requests welcome, Louise plays all the secret favourites and some that you may not have heard before.

On Wednesday evenings Louise hosts a 60s Request Show where listeners can request any 60’s song during the LIVE show, including rare and unreleased tracks.

Last year Louise started working with Keep The Faith Internet Radio which is dedicated to the fantastic sounds of 60’s & 70’s Soul, embracing Northern, Modern, Crossover and Tamla Motown and plays non stop round the clock to broadcast Louise’s Show from Roch Valley Radio.

Louise is pleased to announce that Gibraltar Gold Radio which also broadcasts in Spain will be broadcasting her show LIVE from our studios to their listeners too.

David Murphy, the Chairman, said “The dedication and research that Louise puts into her show is outstanding, the show is always a good listen and you learn something new each week. The patients love Louise’s show and the feedback from our local community is great too”.

If you would like to listen to Louise, please tune into Roch Valley Radio on Tuesday evenings between 8 pm and 10 pm or on Wednesday evenings between 8 pm and 10 pm, you can also listen again to Louise via our Listen Again section. https://www.rochvalleyradio.org.uk

New Amazon Alexa Skill

New Amazon Alexa Skill

Roch Valley Radio has now launched a brand new Amazon Alexa Skill which enables listeners to choose between Roch Valley Radio and Roch Valley Radio Xtra, a new radio channel to increase and give a wider choice of music.

The skill is free to add to your Amazon Alexa device, instructions on how to add the skill can be found on the website here: https://www.rochvalleyradio.org.uk/alexa

David Murphy, the Chairman, said: “We are always looking at feedback from our listeners and volunteers on how we can provide an improved service to our patients and the local community.

Part of our service is ensuring that we are accessible to all, whether its providing a FREE radio service within the hospital at patients bedsides, through our FREE mobile phone and tablet app, via our website or now this new Amazon Alexa Skill.

We think this new Alexa Skill is a great addition on how listeners can reach us; some volunteers have already shown older relatives how to ask Alexa to play the radio station, reaching out at a generation and community that can benefit from our volunteers the most.”

If you would like any information about the Amazon Alexa Skill or would like to get involved in some way, then please contact us via email at studio@rochvalleyradio.org.uk

Roch Valley Radio’s first Christmas Fair Success!

Roch Valley Radio’s first Christmas Fair Success!
On Sunday 9th December the team at Roch Valley Radio, which serves the local hospitals and community in Rochdale and Bury, hosted their very first Festive Christmas Fair to raise essential funds to keep the station on-air and to develop the services it provides.

With over 25 stalls from local traders and other local community organisations made the day a great success where the station raised over £600.00. The money raised will go towards the on-going fees required to keep the station on-air such as music licenses and royalties.

David Murphy, the Chairman, added “Volunteers work at the station 365 days a year providing a lifeline to patients and the surrounding community, it was a fantastic day and great to see so many faces coming to the Christmas Fair to support the work that we do. We hope it was an enjoyable event for all those that attended and the funds raised will ensure that we can continue this service.”

The radio channel is loved by hospital patients, staff and visitors and can be accessed by patients for FREE at their bedside, an alternative for paying for the TV service while staying in the hospital. Patients and family can ring the station on 0161 764 9200 to request songs and dedications.

Further information about the radio station and the services it provides, or if you have an interest or would like to delve into a volunteering role can be found on the website at www.rochvalleyradio.org.uk
